Kenia Romero, LCSWA
Outpatient Therapist in
East Independence Office
Welcome! My name is Kenia Romero, and I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate in the Charlotte area. I hold a Master's in Social Work with a focus on mental/physical health and a Migration Studies track from Loyola University Chicago, as well as a Bachelor's in Psychology Honors and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Warren Wilson College. Over the last 6+ years, I have worked in community mental health and civic engagement spaces, providing support and services to underrepresented communities. My commitment to seeing my community thrive has led me to pursue a profession in mental health. I believe a strong community is the sum of the resilience and well-being of each of its members. My experience in civic engagement fostered a justice-oriented approach to mental health and well-being.
I base my therapeutic practice on evidence-based approaches that are person-centered, integrative, and holistic. This means I may draw from art therapy, mindfulness, or even narrative therapy interventions, tailoring my approach to my clients' needs and preferences. My goal is to provide therapy from a culturally-informed, intersectional, and trauma-informed lens. Therapy is a journey and a process that oftentimes encompasses all facets of an individual–mind, body, and spirit. I look forward to walking alongside you on your healing journey and collaborating through your change process.
Outside the therapy room, I enjoy finding new coffee shops where I can spend Sunday mornings (share your recommendations!), making art, and spending time with my loved ones.
Specialty areas: Children, youth, adults, and women, Latinx/e and immigrants, depression, anxiety, trauma, and bilingual therapy.
