Hello! My name is Julie Risher. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in relationship issues, self-identity, trauma, and grief. My experience comes from mental health offices as well as behavioral health hospitals. I have over 13 years of experience in the mental health field, and I believe that I was called to give up my prior experience as an Emergency Room Nurse to provide care for anyone who needs help with life’s struggles. I feel it is important to pay it forward and help others, just as others have helped me through my own life issues.

As a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive person, my goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space where you can share openly and feel heard. I value open conversation because it helps me understand what matters most to you and how I can best support you on our journey together. I believe every person’s story is important, and I am here to listen, learn, and work alongside you at a pace that feels comfortable. Sometimes this process can feel challenging, but together we can take it step by step, focusing on goals and celebrating progress along the way. I hope that you feel respected and empowered throughout our time together. I take a person-centered approach and use evidence-based therapeutic practices to determine what your needs may require.

A little about me: I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, and have lived in Fort Mill, South Carolina, for the past eight years. I graduated from MUSC with a BA in Health Care Management in 1995 and earned my BSN from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1997. I later graduated from Webster University in Charleston, South Carolina, with a Master’s degree in Counseling in 2012. I am a wife, stepmother, and grandmother to seven grandchildren, soon to be eight. I love to travel and grew up on the beach, finding grounding and comfort in walking in the sand. I am an avid reader of psychological thrillers and enjoy keeping up with the challenges life brings my way.
