Zach Lee, LCSWA

Outpatient Therapist
Pineville

Hi! My name is Zach Lee and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in North Carolina. After spending my twenties working as an actor between Charlotte and New York, I earned my MSW from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. and realized I wanted to become a therapist.

My seven years working in Substance Use Disorder/ Dual Diagnosis treatment facilities as a Primary Therapist and Utilization Review Supervisor form the foundation of my clinical experience. I have experience working with clients that struggle not only with substance use disorders but the underlying conditions (anxiety, depression, shame, trauma) that drive them. I also have experience working with process addictions such as gambling, pornography, and food addictions which can be as devastating as any chemical addiction.

My main purpose as a therapist is to help clients discover what they want and help them get there. My background in theater and improvisational work has informed my theoretical approach to remain open to the moment and allow clients the space to participate in their experiences without judgement. I use several modalities including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Experiential Role Playing, among others, to assist clients in examining how limiting beliefs about themselves and the world may be holding them back. The best piece of advice I ever received was “Don’t believe everything you think.”

In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my wife, following the Atlanta Braves, and reading in my comfy recliner.
