Hello! My name is Kala Collins and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in SC and I am nationally certified as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. I am passionate about helping clients manage their anxiety and stress using mindfulness skills and restructuring techniques. I enjoy helping people understand how to prevent mental health challenges and stress by developing and putting into practice healthy patterns, learning effective skills for managing relationships, and improving practical skills for coping with stress.

To be effective for the whole person, I strive to take a balanced approach to counseling combining aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Experiential Therapy to provide well-rounded, holistic therapeutic interventions. Clients are offered a safe space to experience and process emotions and are then encouraged to engage in self-reflection, examining their own roles while considering both the adverse and positive effects or consequences of their own decision-making while taking active, practical steps toward change, growth, and healing.

I have experience serving as a counselor to children, teens, and adults and I specialize in working with individuals experiencing varying levels of anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and trauma. I have received training from MUSC in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that provides therapy for children and teens, along with their caregivers, who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events.

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE: Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Life Transitions, Relationships, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma
